Double Glazing Explained

Double Glazing Explained

Is the double glazing spacer important?

The double glazing spacer is the component that separates the two panes of glass in double glazing. It provides the seal that is a key part of genuine double glazing.

The type of spacer used in double glazing is key to its insulating performance and durability. Traditionally, spacers used in double glazing have been made from aluminium. However, the edge of the double glazing is thermally “weak” as a result. Alternative double glazing spacers have been developed over time to provide a “warm edge” which provide improved thermal insulation. Choosing double glazing with a durable, thermal spacer makes a big difference in insulation performance, including reducing the likelihood of condensation.

The Double Glazing Company believes the double glazing spacer is very important!  We only supply double glazing manufactured with high-performance thermal spacers.
